Indigenous tribe of Panama

I visited an artisan spot where there were members of the Kuna tribe selling articles that included the Mola design.

My friends exploring the shopping possibilities.

I was particularly fascinated by their attire and the vibrant colors. The Kuna tribe maintains their culture even after the Spanish conquest. As you browse the photos, note the colors and the wrapped legs.

The Mola  is a hand stitched designed panel done by the Kuna women. Different layers of colored cloth are sewn together to create varied designs. The finished panels are used on bags, clothes, etc. They are often seen on blouse pockets, front or back of shirts and blouses.

In addition to pieces of clothing you can find souvenirs ranging from t shirts, tote bags, costume hand made jewelry.  There is quite a bit to feast your eyes in addition to admiring the unique attire.
